BMS Control Panel Design and Manufacture
A dedicated BMS control panel was designed and manufactured in house to suit ALS operational requirements.
The bright orange panel provides clear identification, clean internal layout and allowance for future expansion. Components, wiring and terminations were selected and assembled to meet relevant electrical and control standards and to support day to day reliability in a critical lab environment.
System Integration and Field Installation
The MECS team installed and integrated the BMS with the facility’s key services, including airflow, selected lighting control and energy monitoring.
Cabling, field devices and terminations were installed neatly with clear labelling to support ongoing maintenance and future changes. Interfaces were set up to provide ALS with straightforward visibility of system status and performance.
Testing and Commissioning
A full testing and commissioning process was completed, including:
- Point to point verification of I/O
- Functional testing of airflow, lighting and alarm sequences
- Confirmation of setpoints, timings and fail safe states
- Updates to panel schedules and control documentation
The system was handed over operating as specified for the new lab facility.
Project Challenges and Solutions
Critical Laboratory Environment
Installation quality, routing and terminations were managed to align with lab standards and minimise disruption to other works on site.
Attention to Detail
Panel build, wiring discipline and device placement were controlled to reflect MECS expectations and ALS requirements for a robust, tidy and serviceable installation.
Client Response
ALS received a purpose built BMS solution that centralises control of key services and is set up for reliable daily operation at the new Perth laboratory.
